Eggs In A Hole

Ingredients

The ingredients are for one serve:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or butter.
  • 1 egg.
  • 1 slice of bread.
 Steps

Add vegetable oil or butter to the frying pan.

Cut a hole in the middle of the slice of bread. A perfect item to cut the hole with is a Cookie Cutter, shot Glass; press the Cookie Cutter down on to the slice of bread firmly, and the hole should be easily removed.

Add the slice of bread to the pan.  You can butter the removed "hole" and fry it along with the egg.

Fry the slice of bread on medium until light golden brown. Repeat for the other side.

Once both sides are lightly browned, remove the slices from the pan and add some more oil or butter to the pan in the open hole of the bread. Then, crack the egg open and drop the egg into the hole.

Fry the egg and the bread for an additional minute or two. Then, flip to fry the other side. Try spraying the top of the uncooked side with some cooking spray before flipping, to make sure it doesn't stick.

Fry the other side for a minute or two. Place your "Egg in a Hole" on a plate, pour a cup of your favorite breakfast beverage to go with them, and enjoy.

The appearance of the Egg in a Hole is appealing. the golden brown color is perfect, not overly burnt nor undercooked. The egg is cooked over easy and has a gelatin jiggle to it. The funny thing is that my favorite egg is over easy so it is perfect for me. The taste is good. Not too salty or bland.
Overall this dish was perfect to start with. It is a fun way to turn a boring egg and toast breakfast into something fun. I think I will try this at home. What do you do with the circle in the middle?
Can you any type of bread>?
